About SHG

Mission

Seattle Homeschool Group (SHG) seeks to empower Seattle area homeschooling families to connect, share resources, and build community.

About SHG

SHG is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization led by homeschool parent volunteers in the Greater Seattle area. Our members form an informal network of homeschooling families living in and around Seattle.

SHG accomplishes its mission of empowering homeschooling families by hosting an online forum and a website with information and resources. Our hope is to facilitate connections among homeschooling families by providing a network where members can reach out to each other based on similar interests, age groups, geographic locations, or styles of homeschooling. SHG has a legacy of volunteerism, with members organizing field trips, hosting park days, planning social events, forming clubs and co-ops, facilitating private homeschool classes at local businesses, and so much more.

Membership is free (with suggested donation) and open to all current, former, and prospective homeschooling families in the Greater Seattle Area. We welcome those who practice Home-Based Instruction as defined by Washington State law, those who homeschool through parent partnerships and ALEs, part time homeschoolers, and those who practice any other method of homeschooling.

SHG is nonpartisan, nonsectarian, non-discriminating, and accepting of all styles of homeschooling. No person will be denied membership in or the services of SHG or denied the opportunity to hold a position within SHG on the basis of race, color, creed, sex, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, political affiliation, or homeschooling philosophy.

SHG is committed to ensuring the safety and privacy of its members. Therefore, all prospective members are asked to verify that you are a real human and sincerely interested in or currently homeschooling in the Seattle area.
