SHG Goes to the Movies!!

  • NW Film Forum 1515 12th Avenue Seattle, WA, 98122 United States (map)

Grab yourself (and your teens and tweens if you’ve got them) and let’s go to the movies on Friday, February 9th at 8pm!!  🎬

In addition to all the great programming Seattle Children’s Film Festival is putting on between Feb 2-10th, there’s one that is particularly interesting this year- the debut screening of Homeschooled- "this heartwarming documentary follows six high schoolers, all homeschooled for different reasons, as they emotionally prepare for the end of the year 'Homeschooler’s Prom’".

NW Film Forum is screening Homeschooled on Friday, February 9th at 8pm, (along with some other fun stuff happening beforehand for everyone, like a free drop-in silkscreening workshop (with María Zamora from Pratt) from 5:30-6:30pm (dress accordingly!) and a ticketed screening of the It’s a Mess, Guess? film shorts program at 6:30pm (ages 13+)).

Here are the details!

When: Friday, February 9th, 8pm (run time 1 hr, 12 min)

Where: NW Film Forum in Capitol Hill

What: debut screening of Homeschooled!

Who: You! And your teens or tweens if they want to go!

How much:  $14 for adults and all teens are only $5. (Plus, those pesky service fees.) You can buy tix here: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/6200776

Things our NWFF coordinator would like us to know:

*  the film is for an older kid/teen audience (recommend ages 10+). It is very heartwarming, but does have some content appropriate for older kids, such as swearing and some discussion of suicide.

* it's the world premiere of the film which means you will see it before anyone else in the world!

* director Niki Koss and producer Ryan DeLaney will be in attendance for a short Q&A after the show!  (How fun!)

More things to know:

* NWFF is still requiring masks over nose and mouth.

* Parking can be, uh… problematic! Arrive another way or leave time for parking!

If you cannot come in-person, don’t worry! You can still participate (and support the effort) by viewing Homeschooled from home!  More details here: https://nwfilmforum.org/films/cffs-2024-homeschooled-ages-10-hybrid/
